My PHILOSOPHY:

I believe that pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting experiences are significant events in the lives of those who experience them. The birth of a baby also represents the birth of a family & I believe that each family has their own unique definition of what childbirth is.

As your Childbirth Educator, I will strive to educate you about the physiology, sociology and emotions of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and early parenthood, and then to support the informed choices you make. I feel it is essential during pregnancy to educate yourselves so you can have the freedom of choice to labor and deliver as you wish. I also believe in your ability to birth your baby naturally! While breastfeeding is natural, its also a learned art. As you lactation educator I can help you learn about the basics of breastfeeding, with mother-to-mother support.

My role as your Birth Doula is to help you and your partner achieve the birth you want AND to respect your individual desires and birth wishes. I will not take the place of Dad, I only hope to enhance the experience for you both. I will work as your Doula to nurture and protect the memory of your birth experience. I hope to help you find your voice and to facilitate communication between you and your caregiver. I don't make decisions for you, nor do I set expectations of you giving birth in any particular way. My deepest desire is to honor your values.

I am honored to be your your Doula in your most intimate and vulnerable moment, and to "hold the space" without judgment. For these many reasons, birth should be what you envision.

I hope to be an integral part of making your pregnancy, birth & early parenting environment a nurturing and trusting one for you and your family. I look forward to guiding you on from pregnancy to parenthood!
